Wow. Stop right here. I’ve found a new force in heavy music. And you’re going to love it.

From Sweden, Mindshift has been around for a decade – but in the last few months, the band – Marcus Uggla, Johan Lund, Joakim Olausson, Kim Bengtsson and Eddie Siojo – has directed their energy towards a very heavy and melodic sound.

Since the release of self-funded EP No Regrets in 2012, a host of circumstances lead to Uggla becoming the new frontman for Mindshift. And boy, does he have a scream. (more…)

The first album in thirteen years from the thrash metal band, and lead vocalist Mike Muir the only remaining member of the original band, comparisons to older Suicidal Tendencies is a little out of the question here.

Album number nine sees a fast, rocky tempo to the album.  All the while it feels like you could get up and play air guitar all day long to the guitar solos.   There may be a lot of changing of music “genre” but overall the combination of thrashing drums, and at times some blues guitar, works quite well. If you thought Stone Sour had changed their tune just as a one-off with House of Gold and Bones Part 1, think again.

The American rock band once again delivers with an album (this is the second part of the “HOGAB” theme) and the full-out rock is replaced by a very intriguing mix of full-on, guitar shredding riffs, pianos, ballads and electro elements.  The essentials of Stone Sour are all there; just changed into something very, very spectacular.

Corey Taylor‘s powerful voice is yet again front and centre, but in a way I’ve never heard before. (more…)
